Feel beautiful and not do so to please others !

It is people’s comments that brings us down more frequently than anything else. If you wear makeup, they will classify you as an attention-seeking wannabe. If you don’t, they’ll say you are a tomboy or an ugly plain Jane that couldn’t look good if she tried. Just ignore them.

There will always be people who comment on you. If you are somebody who doesn’t wear makeup and suddenly decides to try it, then go ahead! Do it! Good luck! Not only are you allowed to put on makeup in the comfort of your bedroom, you are allowed to flaunt it outside, pull out your mascara or lipstick for touch ups along with your compact mirror.

People will comment once or twice or as long as they like, why should you care? If they have a problem with you wearing makeup, its THEIR problem, NOT YOURS. You wear makeup because you love it.

Below is a picture of me before and after wearing makeup :)

Feel beautiful no matter the reason is!

The enhancement of Makeup

Tons of makeup tutorials out there in the form of blogs, videos and books, just to name a few. Educating yourself about makeup is a great hobby. I learn from tutorials too and I can say that you not only learn vital skill but you may enjoy this activity as well !

Look at all the colors in your eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks. Makeup is like Art Therapy, only it smells better and is more fun! All that lovely packaging and soft brushes, aren’t you glad makeup is a part of your life? Whether we play neutral or dramatic, makeup is a great medium for expressing our personalities.

Makeup's power

Self-image is the commonest area of low self-esteem. We are constantly facing images and messages from the media that tell us we need to better ourselves.
Makeup is not a mask to hide behind, nor is it something that only the “beautiful” should do.

A lot of women with low self esteem simply decide to avoid makeup altogether, thinking that by not caring about their appearance they will learn to be comfortable with who they are. But, most of these women just don’t know how beautiful they can be if they put in effort to look their best and boost their self-confidence in turn. Here are some of the ways in which makeup can help us all in having self-esteem.

Assignment 2 : Web content creation II

Mod 2.1: Personal Bio (100 words)

Hello Bloggers!
I'm Marie from Mauritius and I am the face behind Makeup Stage.
I really enjoy reading about makeup concepts and beauty tips and having fun by trying some of them.
I started to watch beauty shows at the age of nine, and began to pose as makeup figure at the age of twenty-two.
My great interest in makeup brings me in several training courses where I was able to perform on individuals and to pose for photographers as model figure.

I will blog about makeup interests and tips on the beauty aspects as I have a great admiration in self-personality.

Mod 2.1: Avatar & avatar annotation (100 words)

My blog was designed to help and encourage individuals to take good care of their self-appearance and I chose that my avatar would be my portrait.
To build trust with my audience, it is important to reveal myself to them.
Moreover, it would be worthwhile for aspiring my targeted audience the way in which they may feel beautiful by applying some beauty advices and to inspire women to love themselves despite their spots, burns or pimples on their face.
My photo was taken by a photographer who gave it to me and is not allowed to use by other people due to copyright issues lying under creative commons and it is inserted in my blog.

Mod 2.2: Narrating Personal Interest : Why am I blogging about Makeup ? (400 words)

My goal in revealing my interest for makeup is that I am passionate about how makeup gives power to people to do fabulous things. I want to make people love themselves as they are without having to do any surgical treatments or anything related to that subject. Having a strong connection to makeup, I really think that the culture of beautifying oneself does not concern only girls or women who do every day make-up but to the beauty fanatics who want to enhance their natural beauty and sense of wellness by not being afraid of what others could think about them. Beauty fanatics who discover blogs with the natural feeling of “yeah, this person discerns me!” naturally start following the latter’s blog all night long. In trying to give my contribution in the online makeup environment, I want to share my experience and make my audience aware of.

Educating people to be conscious about their skin care

No need to see the surgeon to be beautiful! You may be beautiful by taking good care of your skin, applying natural products to it to give it a more enhanced texture and eating healthy food such as a balanced diet and fruits. I need to be honest about my skin texture: I DO NOT have a smooth skin texture. However, I did eat fruits in my cereals by mixing them together and it is so easy to prepare and so fun. I crave the good looking girls of Instagram and I am sure that you know who you are yeah!

Changing attitudes towards spots or burns areas visible on the face
Amazed by how the power of makeup could do great transformation in hiding our trouble spots or a burnt, accepting myself has been more easily than it does by not being afraid to be beautiful no matter what. I can relate to this as I do have a lot of spots before I took out that profile picture. Short history: women usually used to talk at my back before I used to wear makeup, mostly those who didn’t have any scars on their face, but wearing cosmetics make me feel more confident in who I am. If you feel to be unsecured or self-hated, makeup could be your gloss!

Increasing one’s self-personality by loving makeup
Being comfortable in my own skin, is a great sense of loving myself. Makeup could lift up the one’s self-assurance and self-possession. Honestly, we all scramble with self-esteem at some stage in our existence. Having a low self-esteem may prevent me to know how stunning I can be if I make an effort to look my best, thus encouraging my self-confidence successively. The greatest impact makeup may have on me is helping me in concentrating on myself and my advantage to the exclusion of others. Makeup enhances me and not change me as it helps me to express my personalities.

Mod 2.3: Introducing Your Topic (400 words)

Beauty culture is constantly growing indicating an interesting importance in the awareness of skin care ("Beauty Industry Analysis 2016 - Cost & Trends", 2016). Makeup is an important part in the beauty culture by creating various benefits.

The use of the internet makes research or tutorials of techniques of makeup more convenient to individuals thus creating a communication channel which is not expensive but more time-saving. With the development of social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, the makeup stage is growing largely to satisfy the “user’s needs in the cosmetic industry” (Chung, 2014) where makeup fans may “share” and “like” what interest them. Women are being sensitized to take care of their skin through advertisement of celebrities inciting them to buy products due to its effectiveness. More women want to look like the singer BeyoncĂ© or the famous Eva Longoria, thus they use these artists as makeup style pictures to focus on their “visual sensibility” (Chung, 2014).

Simple tips such as making honey facials or turmeric masks do give a smooth skin texture and to fight against acne, fine lines and wrinkles as well as enhancing skin elasticity (Reyes, 2016). I discover also that activated charcoal makes the skin look fresher and you may feel it as well. That’s awesome! On various blogs, tips on how to clean brushes or get rid of redness may be very useful for beauty fans which will increase their self-personality (Gonzalez, 2014). Thanks to social media such as Pinterest or Instagram, amazing makeup transformation pictures are being the source of inspiration to the makeup explorers (Do, 2016). I really think that there should be the collaborative participation between you and the author and that’s is the purpose motivation.

Moreover, makeup has facilitated the camouflage of burns, skin discoloration, scars and hyperpigmentation. A great example of how makeup could do amazing transformation is the burn survivor Shalom Nchom who had scars on her face from a frying oil incident when she was adolescent (Liao, 2016). By doing this makeup transformation, this gives her a confidence to walk down the streets without being stared at. Proving that makeup could enhance one’s look (Rohner, Tschopp, & Tabin, 2014) that’s what I want to demonstrate.  By loving herself no matter what, this is what I want to share with my audience.

Take a look at this video (YouTube, 2016) about the power of makeup on burnt skin.

I hope that all of you will enjoy reading my blog where I will develop on the diverse benefits of such a vital practice. A world without makeup is unbelievable for aims that scale from individual to expert but for the needy ones it is a critical tool to express their fresh beauty, defend their self-esteem and upraise their confidence (Rohner, Tschopp, & Tabin, 2014). You’re welcome to leave comments so that we may participate together in this amazing makeup environment.

Mod 3.1: Creating Generative Value (400 words)

Online engagement and the beauty environment

When we talk about beauty, what naturally comes to your mind is cosmetics! However beyond all this beauty section that we tend to see throughout the media, it is critical to put in mind that every celebrity-endorser promoting a product online, tend to wear makeup to offer more an appealing concept to the general audience (Shen & Bissell, 2013). In some circumstances, it is mostly the neediest-ones who really require to wear makeup and very often are those people in terrible conditions whose faces are burnt, scarred and disfigured.

I found a publication from the website The New York Times (Saint Louis, 2011) very engaging since it elaborates of the makeup revolution and its effects on women attractiveness. Social media channels are used to catch attention on how our appearance could result afterwards through wearing makeup.

Since the development of makeup all around the world is growing, women are motivated to post images of themselves with their own designed makeup learned through tutorials on online channels and caption them with the hashtag “#thepowerofmakeup” to demonstrate their true selves on half-face for example on Instagram or Twitter. I find it wonderful to realize how a movement that started with basically a hashtag, has had such an influence for today.

Women show their makeup skills on social media via their selfies and also prove how makeup make them more self-assured in who they are (Orofino, 2015). However, the YouTube beauty pro NikkieTutorials has gone viral by encouraging women to show half-face wearing makeup and the leaving the other side natural. This empowerment revolution according to Nikkie, would inspire makeup shamers to love wear cosmetics and prevent them from insecurity and self-hatred in some ways.

I did have a similar experience of being bullied since I was not attractive at school without makeup. However, now people see me differently as I may control my look by demonstrating confidence, likability and competence, after trying to wear cosmetics thus developing a fairly placebo effect. Having a glamourous look makes me feel self-assured, allowing me to be confident in all the stuffs I undertake either at university or work performance. This is why, I am so much motivated towards makeup trials either on me or others. Posing for some photographers as makeup figure, give me the chance to face my past story while publishing these pictures may allow other women to perceive how makeup could improve their beauty.

Hence, I do believe in the transformation of ourselves not just how we are discerned but then how we feel inside in a certain way. It is true that not all women wear makeup because they feel insecure or do so for people would like them. Some women have tried for fun, get a little glam and want to raise the awareness to stop the makeup shaming. I would love to see the half-face makeup action of Nikkie the beauty pro start in my country, Mauritius, to boost more women about their self-esteem and respect.

Have you ever feel bullied due to your degree of attractiveness? Are you using makeup to enhance your personality?

Mod 3.2: Entering the Conversation (200 words)

This Woman Hit Back At “Make-Up Shaming” With An Incredible Transformation

https://www.buzzfeed.com/richardhjames/this-woman-hit-back-at-make-up-shaming-with-an-incredible-tr?utm_term=.hvP5b6jW5#.fkQZ8EedZ

I’m an apprentice makeup performer, and although I complete quarter part my training in Mauritius, I decided to practice what I learnt on myself and on my friends or people who know about my art.

Enhancing one’s beauty should not be seen as an offence due to the fact that it has made people more aware of their true personality and their inner beauty. The makeup community should not stand up against girls shaming other girls.
The #powerofmakeup effect should not be neglected as the makeup community is allowed to voice out its apprehension and irritation towards the unfairness they encounter without any restriction.
Certainly, the hashtag #ThePowerOfMakeUp has generated nearly to 19 million views and Nikkie de Jager (NikkieTutorials) has undoubtedly stand against the reason that this movement is not about hiding insecurities behind coats of makeup but how fun it is to simply look good.

Social media sites made it probable for people to cooperate, by supporting the #powerofmakeup movement or any sort related to this and women fighting back against makeup shamers. It is true that wearing makeup is not the magical key to every problem in the entire world but could at least be an incentive for some women to affirm their self-expression. However, I think that these women would want you to be aware that there is nothing wrong to look pretty just for themselves and not others.

Mod 4.1: Remediating for 140 Characters (400 words)

Personally, the Twitter experience is very exciting and thought-provoking too. I already possess a Twitter account and I am an energetic user on this kind of platform since two years nevertheless I have never concentrated on a particular subject while I tweet mostly my belief on a diversity of subjects fluctuating from hairstyles to makeup. However, for this unit I made use of the Twitter account that I created for my Mass Communication course and it may relate to my topic somehow. Again, I just followed users who were connected to the world of makeup and I used to follow back since this seems to be an advantageous method to attract followers.

The main tags which were connected to my topic were: #beauty, #thepowerofmakeup, #makeup, #antishamers, #nikkietutorials, #empowermentrevolution and #makeupartists. Underneath these tags, I was able to discover numerous causes that people or groups are defending as well. The most widespread hashtags were #thepowerofmakeup and #nikkietutorials due to the fact that these terms help to a broader concept of makeup.

Though surfing over the range of hashtags, I study numerous things that I needed to share with my actual followers by retweeting them. Manipulating Twitter to explore these tags, gave me with more information than I would have received only by looking on the internet. However, it is true that the internet helps us with a mass of information but then with Twitter, the data is more genuine and raw due to the fact that we are able to see people’s opinion directly without any restriction.

The world of online beauty is very immense and under tags like #makeup, #thepowerofmakeup, #makeupartists and #beauty there were fascinating tweets which were connecting to articles. Individual’s opinions on the subject were interesting but the mainstream of the tweets are not really latest as beauty fans generate their own hashtags according to what they found as trending.

Due to the fact that my posts on this account are new, it was hard to gain responses to my tweets. Connections on Twitter take time to be created not like Facebook where individuals are able to communicate with people to whom they are previously familiar with. Moreover, Twitter is more laborious since you have to connect with total strangers to boost your tweets and involve into a conversation. I accomplished to have my tweets ‘favorited’, which is equal to the likes Facebook, even if not as much it satisfied me of having my tweets remarked.

This journal is published by Routledge and is a peer-reviewed journal and gives the certitude that it is an authentic source due to the fact that it is the world’s major academic producer in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Moreover, it is argued in this article that bloggers prefer to liaise online (Routledge.com, 2015).

Originally, I selected this article since its arguments are linkable and demonstrate how the aspect of identifiability may affect bloggers composition. By choosing to share my identity online on the blog, I noticed to contribute my own experience and reveal quite a lot of personal information with a kind of authority rather than if I would have blog anonymously. Moreover, the author describes obviously how people create the individual persona while blogging and readers who come across our blog quite often may simply recognize it.

Additionally, it is noted that most of the bloggers do not emphasizes on the aspects of privacy parameters so that their audiences are not restricted. However, there is a small section of bloggers who respect these settings and claimed that they want to have a managed and reliable audience which comprises acquaintances and family.

However, my writing targets at providing information about the makeup environment through important concepts of this article to take into consideration for the essay and also for a blogger like me when publishing online.

This academic journal is a peer-reviewed journal and can be stated as being reliable due to the fact that it is from Reconstruction: Studies in Contemporary Culture.

In this article, it is suggested that blogs have the capacity to transmit the blogger an online personality and a private space. I found this article associated to the topic since it advocated that when we write to a large audience, there is the option of managing readers in the public space which results into a challenge.

Moreover, there has been something which retained my attention that is the distinction of what should be public and what should be private. Certainly, the author of the article describes that individuals outside the blog sphere are repulsed by bloggers post since it grants them the impression that they are not aware of what they are broadcasting in public. However, the blogger’s audience is not the public as a conglomeration but essentially those who are interested in a specific subject they are speaking about.

Basically, this artifact explains that when bloggers are writing for the general public, their personality is also replicated through their posts. For instance, the audience for which the bloggers are writing may have an influence on the posts published and therefore create restrictions that are not existing in private life. I do believe in online reputation and this article prove to how content I may publish could affect an individual’s present and future career concerning the digital footprint.
